Friday, May 14, 1999 Winds rip through area town RANGER Loves Country Store on the south side of
Ranger at Interstate 20 was damaged by high winds at 6:30 p.m.
on Tuesday. A little to the northeast, airport buildings were
also damaged. Ranger resident Bob Green said wind tore the covers from the
fuel pumps at Loves and the roof of the southeast corner
of the main building was lifted and then dropped. The west wall of a large airport hangar was destroyed and a
tractor shed inside was reduced to a tangle of metal, Green said. Power poles at the airport were knocked down and more than
one inch of rain fell quickly with quarter-size hail.
