Pastors to give thanks for rain, request more
Please visit: http://www.prayforrain.net

Local and area pastors are invited to a prayer service at noon Thursday to kick off 40 days of giving thanks for rain and asking for more.

The kickoff service will begin at noon Thursday in Everman Park in downtown Abilene.

The Rev. Kelvin Kelley, pastor of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, will lead the initial service. At Thursday’s service, pastors will be asked to sign up to lead subsequent services, which will be held at 7 p.m. daily through July 31.

Three Abilene men are organizing the effort, said Paul Haley, a physical therapist at Hendrick Medical Center. On Thursday, 10 billboards will be placed around town advertising the prayer services.
