Tarleton Relays
Lady ‘Cats claim seven wins

STEPHENVILLE — Angie Waters and Wendy Jo Seitz each set meet records Saturday to lead the way as seven Abilene Christian University women won events in the Tarleton Relays.

Waters set a new meet record in the 800, while Seitz, who also won the 100 hurdles, set her mark in the 400 hurdles.

Others with a first-place finish for the ACU women were Jane McNeil in the pole vault, Tracey Gust in the high jump, April Rizzuto in the 5,000 and Marichea Austin in the 400.

The McMurry men’s finished second and host Tarleton State University’s women’s track team tied for second place.

Both the ACU men and women finished in fourth place, while the McMurry women finished the meet in fifth.

McMurry was paced by Caley Connor and Jon Rhiddlehoover on the men’s side. Connor took first in the vault, and Rhiddlehoover won the hammer throw.

McMurry’s Talitha Belcher is now a provisional qualifier for the NCAA championship in the 200, after finishing in fourth place with a time of 25.16.

The women’s 1,600-meter relay team also earned a provisional qualifying mark.

Tarleton State’s Lara Woods claimed victories in both the long jump and triple jump to lead the TexAnns to their tie for second with Texas A&M-Commerce with 103 points. Jennifer Winters had the TexAnns’ only other win, in the 1,500 meters.
