19-year-old killed in rollover

Reporter-News Staff Report

A 19-year-old Breckenridge woman died Saturday evening after she was thrown from a pickup that overturned four miles south of her hometown.

Crystal Smart, who died at the scene, was a passenger in a 1996 Ford pickup driven by 21-year-old Robert Dean McCullough of Breckenridge, said troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety.

McCullough's other passenger was a 14-month-old girl strapped into a child safety seat.

He was southbound on U.S. Highway 183 when the truck went off the roadway about 6:30 p.m. and rolled over several times, ejecting Smart from the pickup, authorities said. Troopers said they believe Smart had not been wearing her seat belt.

McCullough and the child were taken to Stephens Memorial Hospital in Breckenridge, where they are listed in good condition.
