B-1s from Dyess resume training
Reporter-News
Staff Report
B-1B bombers at Dyess Air Force Base resumed
training flights Thursday afternoon.
B-1s and C-130 transport planes at Dyess
and military planes elsewhere were grounded Tuesday after terrorists
crashed commercial airliners into the World Trade Center and the
Pentagon. While B-1s resumed flying, C-130s remained on standby.
Two C-130s have left Dyess to perform missions
related to the attacks. Base officials declined to give details
about the missions.
Dyess stepped up security measures after
the attack. Additional safety measures the base may be implementing
include limiting access points, 100-percent identification checks,
searching vehicles, increased patrolling, erecting concrete barriers
at the entrance and parking vehicles away from sensitive buildings.
Base officials have asked that people who
do not work, live or have business on base stay away.
