Jack R. Martin
ABILENE -- Jack R.
Martin passed away August 28, 2002 in an Amarillo hospital. Mr.
Martin attended Wylie High School (class of 1962) and served in
the Navy during the Viet Nam war. Surviving brothers and sisters
include Jean, Dawn, Hubert, Lee, Ronny, Dorothy, and Angel (Shirlene).
Preceded in death by a sister, Betty Jo, Emma Lee Cargill (mother),
Donald J. Martin (father). Surviving children include Kenneth,
Michael, and Marcy. We loved and will continue to keep him in
our prayers. Girdner-Brown Funeral Home Abilene, Texas
74, of Rotan passed away Friday morning in a Lubbock hospital.
Services will be Sunday, September 1, 2002 at 2 p.m. in the First
Baptist Church of Rotan with Brother Jerry Vincent officiating.
Burial will follow in Belvieu Cemetery under the direction of
Weathersbee Funeral Home of Rotan.
Austin was born June
8, 1928 in Rotan, TX where he built, owned and managed Rotan Delinting
Plant for 36 years. He served in the Army and was a Past Quartermaster
and Commander of the V.F.W.
He is survived by
his wife, Lue Ann of Rotan; two step-sons, Rowdy and wife Vicky
Rasberry of Roby, TX and Chad Templeton of Rotan, TX; two step-daughters,
Rachel and husband Kelly Halstead of Roby, TX and Misty and husband
Chas McGlothlin of Sweetwater, TX; two brothers, Murl and wife
Francene McKinney and B.B. and wife Bobbie McKinney of Rotan,
TX; nine step- grandchildren; and one step-greatgrandchild. He
was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Scott and
Joe McKinney; his first wife, Jean McKinney; and one step-daughter,
Richard Lynn Scott
CLYDE -- Richard
Lynn Scott, 52, of Clyde, died Friday in an Abilene hospital.
Graveside services will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in the Clyde Cemetery,
under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home.
Richard was born
December 23, 1949 in Gorman to Jimmie and Helen Rogers Scott.
He had lived in the Clyde area since moving from Wylie in 1957.
He attended school in Clyde. He was a horse ferrier and a horse
He is survived by
one son and daughter-in-law, Jamie and Kim Scott of Arlington;
one daughter and son-in-law, Shannon and Billy Phillips of Clyde;
parents, Jimmie R. and Helen Scott of Clyde; two brothers and
sisters-in-law, Kyle and Minnie Scott and Maurice and Linda Scott
all of Clyde; four grandchildren, Kayla, Dustin, Brandi, and Breonna;
two nephews, Dow Scott of Clyde and John Bryan of Houston; three
nieces, Lee Ann Scott of Clyde, Jay and Terri Alba of Abilene,
and Jori and Greg McNew of Houston; one special friend, Mary Moore
of Clyde; and two great-nieces, Chelsy and Tabitha Alba.
Bailey, 65, went home to be with his Lord on Friday, August 30,
2002, with his wife by his side in Abilene, Texas.
Weldon was born August
7, 1937, in Chillicothe, Texas, to Carl Henry Means Bailey and
Carrie Ethel Bailey Hines. Both preceded him in death.
He had one sister, Margie Means Bailey, who passed on before Weldon
was born. In March of 1991, he married Ronda Lee Menasco, whom
he loved and adored.
He leaves one son,
Jonathan Peter Weldon Bailey of Bovey Tracey, England; and two
stepchildren, R. Jason McBride and wife, Jennifer, of Plano, TX,
and Ranett Clayton of Wichita Falls, TX. He was PaPa Weldon to
four grandchildren, Jessi, Mikki, Collin, and Maddison. He was
also blessed with a wonderful mother-in-law, Francis Menasco and
two of his cousins that were more like sisters to him, Sandra
Smithwick and husband, Aubrey, and Glenda Sue Downes and husband,
James, all of Vernon, TX.
He served 27 years
in the United States Navy Submarine Force, having served on the
Odax, Spadefish, Baton Rouge, and Thrasher to name a few. He loved
his country and the sea, but Weldon's heart always belonged to
Texas. He moved to Abilene in 1991, and was known as the
credit man. He worked for Credit Data of West Texas
and was the manager of the Central Division. He attended
and taught at Texas A & M University, and was always an Aggie.
The family will receive
friends at a visitation from 5:30 to7 P.M. Tuesday at Elliott-Hamil
Funeral Home, 542 Hickory, in Abilene. A graveside service for
family and friends will be held at 12 Noon on Wednesday, September
4th, in Crestview Memorial Cemetery in Wichita Falls, TX.

Weldon and I want
to tell Dr. Hirsch, the nurses in his office, all the nurses and
aides in SE7 Oncology Floor, and the nurses at Hospice Home Health
and 7th Floor how much we appreciated their support, care, and

Donald M Wilkerson
Donald M Wilkerson,
58, went home to be with the Lord Friday, August 30, 2002 at a
local hospital. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September
3, 2002 at the Elmwood Funeral Home with Reverend Kevin Kennedy
officiating. Burial will follow with full military honors under
the direction of Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. A visitation
will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, September 2, 2002 at
Elmwood Funeral Home.
Don was born January
22, 1944 in Bell City, Missouri to John and Faye Wilkerson. He
graduated from high school in Bell City May 1962, in June of that
year he joined the USAF. August 18,, 1962 he married Bobbie Pry
in Bloomfield, Missouri. He retired from USAF in 1984 as a Senior
Master Sergeant. After retirement he spent his time working with
the church and helping people in need. Mr. Wilkerson was an active
member of Trinity Baptist Church for 23 years, and served as Deacon.
He was preceded in
death by his parents and a granddaughter, Laura Wilkerson.
Don is survived by
his wife, Bobbie Wilkerson; two sons, Donald Gaylon Wilkerson
and wife, Angela, their children, Kayla Hardwick, Ethan Wilkerson
and Rebecca Wilkerson, Darrin Spencer Wilkerson and wife, Rebecca,
their children, Ryan Langer and Cole Wilkerson; one brother, Rodney
J. Wilkerson and wife, Brenda, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, their
children, Michael, Dustin, and John Wilkerson; one uncle, Gene
Heath and wife, Sue Heath of Memphis, TN; and numerous cousins.
Mrs. Sylvia Bearden,
81, of Abilene and formerly of Colorado City, died Friday night
at her residence. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday
in the Colorado City Cemetery with Kerry Cain officiating under
the direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Mrs. Bearden was
born February 25, 1921 in Grand Saline, TX to J.D. and Mary Pate
Yarbrough and lived in Colorado City most of her life before moving
to Abilene four years ago. She married Claude Bearden on December
23, 1937 in Colorado City. She was a homemaker and a member of
the Church of Christ.
She is survived by
her husband, Claude Bearden of Abilene; a son and daughter-in-law,
Charles and Paula Bearden of Abilene; three sisters, Ruby Honea
of Abilene, Faye Root of New York and Leta Townsend of Lubbock;
three brothers, Sewell Yarbrough, Seagall Yarbrough and Leland
Yarbrough, all of Tucson, AZ; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren;
and three great-great- grandchildren.

NEWCASTLE, OK --
Jack H. McMinn, Jr., former Abilene resident, passed away at his
home August 28 in Newcastle, Oklahoma. He was 55.
He is survived by
his son, Jason and two granddaughters, Megan and Jessica all of
Abilene; one sister, Glenda Zorn of Anson; nieces and nephews.
Mr. McMinn attended
Abilene High and was a U.S. Marine serving in Vietnam in 1968.
Services will be
Monday, September 2 in New Castle, Oklahoma and burial will be
Tuesday, September 3 at Fort Sill in Lawton, Oklahoma with full
