Pilots with the New Mexico wing of the Civil Air Patrol were searching Monday for a missing plane
last seen in Arizona.
Searchers were looking along the plane's last known flight path between St. John's, Ariz., and
Socorro, N.M., Civil Air Patrol 2nd Lt. Tom Fuller said.
About 28 pilots from the New Mexico wing were called in to help Sunday, flying for about 12 hours to
cover the search area.
"What we did was parallel search ... looking out the side of the aircraft," pilot Bill Drumm said.
The plane is believed to be a Beechcraft Bonanza with a pilot and one passenger aboard.
It was reportedly en route from Los Angeles to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and stopped to refuel Sept. 21
in Mesa, Ariz., but never arrived at its next scheduled stop near Dallas.
Fuller said teams from Santa Fe, Las Cruces, Alamogordo and Farmington have joined the search.
