Continental to start service to Ciudad del Carmen, Mexico

Monday, September 29, 2003

HOUSTON (AP) - Continental Airlines will begin daily nonstop service between Houston's Bush Intercontinental Airport and Ciudad del Carmen, Mexico, subject to government approval.

The Houston-based airline said Monday the service is scheduled to start Dec. 17. It would become Continental's 23rd Mexican destination, the most of any U.S. carrier.

Ciudad del Carmen is a hub for Mexico's oil industry and a departure point for helicopters bound for drilling rigs in the Gulf of Mexico. The area on the Yucatan Peninsula also is known for its fishing and beaches.
