PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - A Texas man pleaded guilty Tuesday to possessing 130 pounds of
marijuana with the intent to distribute it.
Lawrence Maldonado, 35, of El Paso pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court and faces up to 20 years in
prison and a fine of up to $1 million.
Maldonado was stopped in August by Maine state troopers while driving a tractor-trailer truck on the
Maine Turnpike.
When troopers searched the trailer, they found seven bales of marijuana, which prosecutors said
Maldonado had transported from the Southwest.
No sentencing date has been set.
