Thursday, September 17, 1998 Cooper forfeits victory over Killeen By AL PICKETT Sports Editor Cooper High School has forfeited its Sept. 4 varsity football
victory over Killeen High School. The Cougars inadvertently played an ineligible player in the
game. "He played five plays," Cooper coach Randy Allen
said of the player in question. "We discovered he didn't
have enough credits, so we self-reported ourselves to the UIL." Allen said he received a ruling Tuesday from the University
Interscholastic League that the game with Killeen will be forfeited
and there will be no further penalty. He informed the team at
Tuesday's practice. Allen said the player is no longer on the team. Cooper beat Killeen, 26-9. The only bearing the forfeit will
have on Cooper will be on the Cougars' overall record since the
game was a non-district game. Cooper is now 0-2 rather than 1-1. Al Pickett can be reached at 676-6772 or picketta@abinews.com.
