Lubbock Coronado 29, Midland High 19

LUBBOCK - Lubbock Coronado scored 29 consecutive points in the second half to erase a 13-0 deficit en route to a 29-19 non-district win over Midland High.

Coronado trailed 13-0 at halftime before its offense awoke to score 15 points in the third quarter and 14 in the fourth quarter.

Quentin Shields put Coronado's first points on the board with a 13-yard scoring run in the third quarter to cut Midland's lead to 13-7. The Mustangs took their first lead of the game when Michael Branum plunged into the end zone from 1 yard out, and Chad Morgan then converted the two-point conversion.

In the fourth quarter, Shields added to Coronado's lead with 10-yard TD run. Coronado put the game out of reach when Ryan Aycock tossed a 7-yard scoring pass to Nolan Griggs.

Odessa 12, El Paso Franklin 2

ODESSA - Odessa High's defense held El Paso Franklin to 113 yards of total offense as the Bronchos earned a 12-2 non-district victory.

Taylor Casey scored the only points Odessa High would need when he caught a 4-yard TD pass from Brian Porras with 7:32 remaining in the second quarter. Juan Gonzales doubled the Bronchos' lead on a 2-yard run with 2:40 left before halftime.

El Paso scored its only points on a safety in the third quarter.

Gonzales sparked the Bronchos' offense with 127 yards rushing on 33 carries.
