Albany 14, Archer City 6

ARCHER CITY - The Albany Lions edged the Archer City Wildcats, 14-6, here Friday, thanks to a 47-yard punt return for a TD by Adam Viertel.

The visitors were clinging to a 7-6 lead in the third quarter when Viertel broke open the game.

The hosts took the lead late in the first quarter on a 32-yard pass from Dustin Owens to Bobby Martin. The PAT kick failed, however, and that enabled Albany to take the lead when Biran Bartee scored from the one in the second period.

Viertel's long distance punt return came in the third quarter. That was all the cushion the Lions defense needed.
