Roscoe 18, Anson 10

ROSCOE - Quarterback Roddy Alexander led the Roscoe Plowboys to a hard-fought 18-10 win over the Anson Tigers in non-district play here Friday.

Alexander threw one TD pass and rushed 13 times for 90 yards. His 28-yard scoring run with 61 seconds in the game finally put the nail in Anson's coffin.

The Tigers had trailed by only two points since late in the third period and battled the hosts on even terms for most of the evening.

Alexander also starred on defense, making nine solo tackles and getting seven assists. John Caffey led Anson with six solo tackles.

Alexander hit Jeremy Williams with a 27-yard TD pass in the first four minutes of the game. Six minutes later Andrew Jimenez kicked a 22-yard field goal for Anson to make it a three-point game.

Roscoe lengthened its lead two minutes before halftime on a 55-yard run by Adrian Aguilar. A pass for the bonus points failed, however, and that enabled Anson to draw within two on a five-yard TD run by Leonard Lozano, combined with a Jimenez PAT kick, with 51 seconds left in the third period.

That set the stage for Alexander's scoring run.

Mitch Drinnon was Anson's leading rusher with 17 carries for 57 yards.
