De Leon 17, Hico 14

DE LEON -- De Leon twice saved its best Mix for last.

Down 14-0 in the fourth quarter, the Bearcats scored twice to tie the game and then won in the third overtime on Luke Mix' 26-yard field goal, 17-14, over Hico.

The win puts both teams at 5-3 overall and 2-1 in District 15-2A play.

Hico scored in the first quarter on Justin Lane's TD run and again midway through the third quarter on Zack Baker's 15-yard run. It looked like the district leaders were headed for a third league win.

But Bobby Shuman scored 45 seconds into the last quarter and Andrew Leal with 2:32 to play. Mix booted both important PATs.

Neither team scored in its first two overtime possessions. Hico didn't score again on No. 3 but Mix kicked his field goal to win the game.

Clay Rainwater had 120 yards rushing for Hico.

Hico had 221 yards to 137 for De Leon.
