Jim Ned 26, Anson 22
TUSCOLA -- Rusty Isenburg's three-yard TD run with 10:15 left in the game lifted the Jim Ned Indians to a 26-22 victory over the Anson Tigers in District 8-2A here Friday.
Although they scored three times in the second quarter to overcome Anson's first quarter lead, the Indians had to fight back after Anson scored 14 unanswered points in the third period.
But they did it, and now Jim Ned is 2-1 in league play and 4-4 for the year. Anson has a better season record at 5-3, but is 1-2 in district.
Fred Lozano opened the scoring for Anson with a two-yard run with 27 seconds left in the first quarter.
But Jim Ned scored three touchdowns in less than seven minutes in the second period. James Gaskins for the first on a seven-yard run. Cole Egger ran over a three-yard TD, then threw a 15-yard scoring strike to Dustin Winckler with only 22 seconds left in the half for a 20-8 hometown lead.
Anson went back in front, 22-20, in the third stanza on a one-yard TD run by Brent Glasgow, then a 64-yard pass from John David Caffey to Manuel Fuller.
That set the stage for Isenburg's winning TD in the last quarter.
