Sweetwater 28, Lubbock Estacado 24
SWEETWATER - Willie Amos scored the final two touchdowns of the game to lead Sweetwater to a 28-24 come-from-behind win over Lubbock Estacado Friday night.
Estacado held a 24-14 lead before Amos scored ona 33-yard run with 2:42 left in the third period to pull the Mustangs within 24-21. Amos then scored ona two-yard run with 7:59 left in the game to complete the comeback for Sweetwater.
Estacado led 3-0 after one quarter on a 38-yard field goal by Michael Torres before Amos scored on a 33-yard run to give Sweetwater a 7-3 lead. The Matadors regained the upper hand at 10-7 on Patrick Sanders' 3-yard scoring run at 3:24 of the second quarter.
The Mustangs, though, gained a 14-10 edge at halftime when Derrick Carr hauled in a 35-yard scoring pass from Nicholas Boil at the 1:25 mark.
Estacado then scored two third-quarter touchdowns on a 79-yard run by Todrick Thomas and a 3-yard run by Justin Hibler to open the 24-14 cushion.
