- Prior to the 1993 Class 2A state championship, a sports writer
from East Texas watched both Paul Pewitt and Goldthwaite warm
up. He noticed how little the Goldthwaite players were and commented
that Paul Pewitt should beat the Eagles by 50 points. Goldthwaite,
despite being outweighed, won, 21-8.
