"Wave for Walter" scheduled at rivalry game

The Cooper Booster Club is sponsoring a "Wave for Walter" night Friday at the Abilene High-Cooper football game at Shotwell Stadium.

Walter Ford, father of Cooper middle linebacker Coby Ford, was paralyzed from his waist down in a car wreck last year coming home from Cooper's playoff game with Amarillo Tascosa in Lubbock.

He has undergone several operations and needs another operation to alleviate problems in his legs. The operation will be costly and the Fords do not have insurance.

To offset the cost of the operation, the Cooper Booster Club is sponsoring "Wave for Walter" night. Middle school coaches from Clack, Jefferson and Madison will be giving out rally rags underneath the home stands and asking for donations to offset the cost of Walter's operation.l

All donations will be deposited in the Cooper Booster Club account from which a check will be written to the Fords for the operation. The booster club will also accept donations sent to the Cooper Booster Club, P.O. Box 6182 Abilene 79608.

For more information, contact Cooper assistant football coach Gary Griffin at 690-3475.
