to the Texas Rangers last month by accepting salary arbitration,
agreed Monday to a $3.25 million, one-year contract. Witt made $2 million last season. He was 12-12 with a 4.82
ERA in 34 games with 32 starts, and led the pitching staff in
innings with 209. Witt has a career record of 124-131 in 11 major league seasons.
He became a free agent on Oct. 27, and accepted the Rangers' 1998
offer of salary arbitration Dec. 19.
