game COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. (AP) - With Nolan Ryan and George Brett expected
to gain induction to the Hall of Fame, the Texas Rangers and Kansas
City Royals will play in the exhibition game that follows the
ceremonies next summer. The induction, also expected to include Robin Yount, is scheduled
for Sunday, July 25, with the game the following day. Ryan, Brett and Young are eligible for election for the first
time, as are Carlton Fisk and Dale Murphy. The Baseball Writers
Association of America will vote in December, with results announced
the following month. The Rangers are 3-0 in Hall of Fame games, beating Pittsburgh
(1973), San Diego (1979) and Kansas City (1986). That '86 loss
was the Royals' only appearance. Tickets for the game will be sold at the Hall on April 10.
