just the third player in Texas Rangers' history to win 20 games,
has been named the team's pitcher of the year. Helling went 20-7 with a 4.41 ERA in 33 starts. he tied for
the major-league lead in wins and set a team record with a .741
winning percentage. He led the team in innings (216.3) and complete
games (four), and became the first Texas pitcher to win his first
six starts in a season. Helling was chosen by the Dallas-Fort Worth chapter of the
Baseball Writers Association of America.
