Gregg Zaun from the Florida Marlins on Monday for a player to
be named or cash. Florida designated the 27-year-old switch-hitter for assignment
on Nov. 19. The deal will be completed on or before April 15. The Rangers had been looking for a backup for Ivan Rodriguez.
Bill Haselman, the No. 2 catcher this year, became a free agent
after the season. Zaun hit .188 with five homers and 29 RBIs in 106 games this
season. He became the team's starter after Charles Johnson was

career average of .234 with 12 homers and 78 RBIs in 264 games.
