Murder of Clyde man committed in Callahan County
By KATHI STAPP / Correspondent
ALBANY -- Investigators have determined that the April 10 or
11 murder of a Clyde man, found shot to death in Shackelford County,
was committed in Callahan County, Shackelford County Sheriff Larry
Bonner said Wednesday.
Bonner, addressing county commissioners at a budget session,
made the disclosure in explaining that Shackelford County was
to be reimbursed most of its expenses in the investigation of
the death of Ted Saunders, 46.
Saunders' body was found in his pickup truck parked on the
side of U.S. 283 between Baird and Albany, in Shackelford County
just north of the Callahan County line. According to the autopsy
report, Saunders had been shot five times and severely beaten.
The homicide investigation focused on Bonner's windshield repair
shop adjacent to his home in rural Callahan County near Clyde
as the apparent scene of the slaying.
The murder remains unsolved.
Callahan County officials could not be reached for comment
Wednesday night.
