Belia Rosales Garcia
Belia Rosales Garcia, 89, died Friday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today in Gethsemani Assembly of
God with the Rev. Sam Lopez officiating. Burial will be in Cedar
Hill Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mrs. Garcia was born in Matamoros, Coahuila, Mexico, and was
a homemaker. She moved to Abilene in 1959 from Sterling City.
She was a member of the Assembly of God and was the widow of Jesus
G. Calderon, whom she married in 1923 in San Carlos, Coahuila,
Mexico.
Survivors include four sons, Frank R. Garcia of Abilene, Ben
R. Garcia and Paul R. Garcia, both of Denton, and Jesse R. Garcia
of Nederland; five daughters, Maria G. Valasquez of Abilene, Margarieta
Escobedo of Denver, Lupe Varela of Monterrey, Mexico, Maria Lueza
Soria of Fort Worth and Belia Gonzalez of Cuidad Acuna, Mexico;
two sisters, Marta Rosales of Mexico City, Mexico, and Rosa Limon
of Cuidad Acuna, Mexico; 89 grandchildren; 215 great-grandchildren;
and 41 great-great-grandchildren.
Tim Phillips
Tim C. Phillips, 39, died Friday at his home.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. today in Aldersgate United
Methodist Church with the Rev. Bob Ford and Dr. Robert C. "Bob"
Monk officiating. Private burial will be held, directed by Elliott-Hamil
Funeral Home, 5701 U.S. Hwy 277 South.
Mr. Phillips was born in Lubbock and moved to Abilene in 1970.
He graduated from Cooper High School in 1976 and McMurry University
in 1982. He worked at J.C. Penney's, Abilene National Bank, Texas
State Bank, and for 12 years, Preston State Bank, which later
became Bank One. He then was employed by Arapaho Village Medical
Clinic in Richardson. He was a member of the Makona fraternity
while at McMurry. He sang in the choirs at Aldersgate United Methodist
Church in Abilene and White Rock Community Church in Dallas.
Survivors include his parents, Billy P. and Nancy Phillips
of Abilene; one sister, Julie Phillips Ure of Arlington; and his
grandmother, Phrona McClendon of Abilene.

Jo Nell Vickers
Jo Nell Vickers, 56, died Friday in a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today in Elmwood Memorial
Park with Claud Parrish officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil
Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Ms. Vickers was born in Jones County and moved to Abilene more
than 30 years ago from Frederick, Okla. She was a self-employed
beautician and attended Pioneer Drive Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Burt Vickers of Grand Prairie; her
parents, Jerry and Tollie G. Stone of Abilene; and one sister,
Cadellia D. Sexton of Paris, Texas.
Carrie Brown
HASKELL - Carrie Brown, 91, died Friday at her home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in East Side Baptist Church
with the Rev. David Page officiating. Burial will be in Willow
Cemetery, directed by Holden-McCauley Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Brown was a farmer and a homemaker. She was a member of
East Side Baptist Church and was the widow of Wesley Brown, whom
she married in 1942.
Survivors include two sons, Curtis Chapman of Morton and Clarence
Chapman of Abilene; one daughter, Lena Tidwell of Haskell; one
stepson, Kermit Brown of Georgetown; one stepdaughter, Mary Neinest
of Sagerton; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Hubert Jones
ROTAN - Hubert Jones, 70, employed by National Gypsum Co. for
40 years until retiring in 1992, died Friday at his home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Rotan First Baptist Church
with the Rev. Werth Mayes officiating. Burial will be in Rotan
Cemetery, directed by Weathersbee Funeral Home.
Mr. Jones was born in Stonewall County and was a lifelong resident
of Stonewall and Fisher counties. He served with the U.S. Army
during World War II and married LaVada Price in 1951 in Rotan.
He was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Rotan; one son, Buddy Jones
of Rotan; two daughters, Linda Nelson of San Angelo and Gail Stoecker
of Abilene; his mother, Opal Jones of Hamlin; two brothers, Dean
Jones of Alamogordo, N.M., and Clifton Jones of Odessa; five grandchildren;
and two nieces and seven nephews.
Haven Marie Ivy
HASKELL - Haven Marie Ivy, 85, died Thursday in an Abilene
hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Haskell Church of Christ
with Dale Huff officiating. Burial will be in Willow Cemetery,
directed by Holden-McCauley Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Ivy was born in Moro in Taylor County and married Vernon
Forest Ivy in 1930 in Haskell. She was a homemaker and was a member
of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, of Haskell; one daughter, Judy
Hall of Abilene; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Agnes Wilks
MARYNEAL - Agnes Wilks, 92, died Thursday in a Sweetwater hospital.
Services will be at 4 p.m. today in McCoy Funeral Home Chapel
of Memories in Sweetwater with the Revs. Lyndel Hix and Truman
Davis officiating. Burial will be in Decker Cemetery.
Mrs. Wilks was born in Nolan County and graduated from Sweetwater
High School. She attended Sul Ross College and returned to Nolan
County in 1942. She taught school in Nolan and Coke counties.
She was a member of Maryneal Baptist Church and was the widow
of P.L. Wilks, whom she married in 1929 in Nolan County.
Survivors include one son, John Wilks of Maryneal; one daughter,
Jo Ann Farr of Abilene; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Ira Hester
HASKELL - Ira Hester, 88, Haskell County banker for many years,
died Tuesday in a North Richland Hills hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Presbyterian Church
with Dan Marshall officiating. Burial will be in Willow Cemetery,
directed by Holden-McCauley Funeral Directors.
Mr. Hester was born in Rochester and served with the U.S. Army
Air Corps during World War II. He also was a longtime farmer in
Haskell County. He was a former Haskell mayor and city manager,
and president of the Chamber of Commerce. He was a Rotarian. He
was a member of First Presbyterian Church and was the widower
of Eva Dell Squyres Hester, whom he married in 1938 in Haskell.
Survivors include one son, Thomas Riley Hester of San Francisco;
one daughter, Diana Snodgrass of Colleyville; two sisters, Mollie
Frierson of Haskell and Betty Jo Heitsch of Jacksboro; one brother,
Floyd "Bobby" Hester of Haskell; three grandchildren;
and one great-grandchild.
Memorials may be sent to The Warm Place, 1510 Cooper St., Fort
Worth 76104; or First Presbyterian Church, Haskell 79521.
The family will be at the Jimmy and Janice Browning home.
Doyle Maynard
EASTLAND - Doyle L. Maynard, 68, died Thursday in a Fort Worth
hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Edwards Funeral Home Chapel
with the Rev. Rex Boggs and Dr. Tom Goodman officiating. Burial
will be in May Cemetery.
Mr. Maynard was born in Romney and graduated from Rising Star
High School. He married LaVerne Harris in 1950 in Williams, Texas,
and worked as a sales representative for Mrs. Baird's Bread for
15 years. He also was employed by Mitchell Energy for 12 years
and then by Higginbotham Lumber for 12 years. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, of Eastland; two sons, Tommy Maynard
and Bobby Maynard, both of Eastland; one daughter, Kathy Robins
of New Orleans; one brother, Don L. Maynard of Round Rock; two
sisters, Myrna Lewis and Clara Schlitzer, both of Lake Brownwood;
seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Shirley Ann McCollum
STEPHENVILLE - Shirley Ann McCollum, 58, died Thursday after
a long illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Stephenville Funeral Home
Chapel. Burial will be in Clairette Cemetery.
Mrs. McCollum married Harris McCollum in 1957 and was a Girl
Scout leader for many years. She was a member of Riverside Baptist
Church.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Barney McCollum of
Fort Worth and Luke McCollum of West Bloomfield, Minn.; one daughter,
Becky Hammer of North Richland Hills; one brother, Ed Dollison;
one sister, Anita Harmon; and five grandchildren.
Maudell Morrison
RISING STAR - Maudell Morrison, 83, died Thursday in a Brownwood
hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Peterson Funeral Home
Chapel in Newton, Kan., with Ed Lee officiating. Burial will be
in Restlawn Gardens of Memory. Local arrangements are being made
by Heartland Funeral Home of Early.
Mrs. Morrison was born in Cooper, Texas, where she attended
school, and lived in Eldorado and Newton before moving to Rising
Star in 1996. She was a member of the Church of Christ and was
the widow of Jess B. Morrison, whom she married in Oklahoma City.
Survivors include two sons, Benton Hedrick Morrison of Waxahachie
and Ronald D. Morrison of Grove, Okla.; one daughter, Frances
D. Jaynes of Rising Star; one stepdaughter, Delia White of Humble;
12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

EASTLAND - J.B. Jesse, 65, died Friday in an Abilene hospital.
Services are pending with Edwards Funeral Home.
Evelyn Hitchcock
BRECKENRIDGE - Evelyn Hitchcock, 80, died Friday. Services
are pending with Morehart Mortuary.
Dr. Fanella Schaeffer
COLEMAN - Dr. Fanella Schaeffer, 62, died Friday in an Abilene
hospital. Services are pending with Stevens Funeral Home.
Angeline 'Angie' Olsak
BALLINGER - Angeline "Angie" Olsak, 95, died Friday
in a local nursing home. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Sunday
in Rains-Seale Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday
in St. Mary Catholic Church.
Robert Eric Truxal Jr.
STEPHENVILLE - Robert Eric Truxal Jr., 20, of Pipe Creek, died
Thursday at Pipe Creek. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Stephenville
Funeral Home Chapel.
Catherine 'Kay' Boren
BIG SPRING - Catherine "Kay" Boren, 80, formerly
of Big Spring, died Wednesday in El Paso. Graveside services will
be at 10 a.m. Monday in Trinity Memorial Park, directed by Nalley-Pickle
& Welch Funeral Home.
Raymond 'Ray' Boone
CLAIRETTE - Raymond "Ray" C. Boone, 78, died Thursday
in Stephenville. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Stephenville

BROWNWOOD - Henry Bruce Burkett, 76, died Friday at his home.
