Arnaldo "Ray" Garcia

Arnaldo "Ray" Garcia, 31, of Abilene died Sunday at a local hospital.

Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Francis Catholic Church with Rev. David Matz officiating. Burial will be in Abilene directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory. A prayer service will be at 7 tonight at the funeral home chapel.

Mr. Garcia was born in Abilene where he has lived all of his life. He worked as a self-employed paint contractor.

He married Lucy Cortinaz in Abilene in 1983 and was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church.

In addition to his wife Lucy Garcia of Abilene, survivors include three sons, Arnaldo Garcia, Jr., Paul Elias Garcia and John Marcus Garcia all of Abilene; his parents, Elias Garcia and Mary Garcia of Abilene; two brothers, John Garcia and Tony Garcia of Abilene; four sisters, Elisa Solis, Margie Garcia Pedroza, Mary Florez and Christine Garcia, all of Abilene; and a grandmother, Claudia Davila of Abilene.

Jerry Glen Altman

Jerry Glen Altman, 67, died Tuesday at a local hospital.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with Dr. Steven G. Williams officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Altman was born in Anson and moved to Abilene in 1946. He graduated from Abilene High School in 1950 and attended Hardin-Simmons University. Mr. Altman had been self-employed as an oil field electrician since 1969. He has also been employed by National Electric for 16 years.

Survivors include two sons, J.D. Altman of Denton and Glen Altman of Eula; two sisters, Dorthy Carol DeShazo of Santa Fe, New Mexico and Wana Jean Ladd of Abilene; and five grandchildren.

Eva Mae Glaze

Eva Mae Glaze, 71, died Tuesday at a local hospital.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Cedar Gap Cemetery with Richard Adkisson officiating, directed by Fry-Bartlett Funeral Home of Tuscola.

Mrs. Glaze was born in Cedar Gap where she attended school. She was the widow of George W. Glaze whom she married in 1939 in Cedar Gap. She moved to Abilene in 1972 and was employed as a seamstress at a clothing factory in Abilene.

She was a member of Oak Street Church of Christ.

Survivors include three sons, Joe Glaze of Merkel, Roy Glaze of Abilene and Tony Glaze of Clyde; one daughter Judy Franklin of Abilene; one sister, Doris Whitehurst of Graham; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Mildred Clough

PLANO - Mildred Clough, 71, formerly of Abilene, died Monday in Plano.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the First Methodist Church of Plano. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery in Fort Worth directed by Ted Dickey Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. Clough lived in Abilene from 1976 to 1986 she was also a resident of Plano for 10 years and a longtime member of the First Methodist Church of Plano. She was the widow of Forrest W. Clough.

Survivors include one daughter, Susan M. Wyatt of Albuquerque, N.M.; one son, George H. Clough, and four grandchildren.

Mildred Davis

COLEMAN - Mildred Davis, 74, died Monday at an Abilene Hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Coleman Cemetery with Rev. Roger Hammonds officiating, directed by Stevens Funeral Home.

Mrs. David was born in Antlers, Okla. She grew up in Oklahoma and Texas. She was the widow of Henry Fuston Davis. In 1980 she moved to Coleman and was a home maker and a Baptist.

Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Dykes of Coleman; two brothers, Bob Glaze of Manteca, Calif. and Elvis Glaze of St. Luis Obispo, Calif.; one sister, Wanda Liles of Manteca, Calif.; one grandchild; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Stephen 'Louis' Nowak

STRAWN - Stephen "Louis" Nowak, 53, died Sunday.

Mass will be at 10 a.m. today at St. John's Catholic Church in Strawn with Rev. Vincent Inametti officiating. Burial will be in Dodson Prairie Cemetery, directed by Edwards Funeral Home.

Mr. Nowak was born in Ranger, grew up in Strawn and graduated from Strawn High School. He was an Air Force veteran and worked for Brazos Electric for 20 years. He worked for General Dynamics for six years and also for Southern Airways and Lone Star Gas. He was a member of the Strawn school board for nine years and had been a member of Strawn Lions Club. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and the Catholic Men's Club. He married Gloria McLellan in 1966 in Duluth, Minn.

Survivors include his wife, of Strawn; his mother, Arle Nowak of Strawn; one son, Stephen Nowak Jr. of Strawn; two brothers, Charles Nowak and Joseph Monroe Nowak of Dodson Prairie; and several nieces and nephews.

Lee Bowman

CLYDE - Lee Bowman, 83, died Tuesday at an Abilene hospital.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Kendrick Cemetery at Denton Valley with Richard Adkisson officiating directed by Bailey Funeral Home.

Mr. Bowman was born in Rising Star. He married Pearl Carroll Baker in 1938 in Cedar Gap. They moved to Clyde from Abilene in 1976. He was a truck driver for Scurlock Oil Company and later farmed. He was a member of the Baptist Church. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army and fought in World War II serving in Africa, Ireland and Italy.

Survivors include his wife, Pearl Bowman; one son, Mac Arthur Bowman of Buffalo Gap; one daughter, Mary Betty Hardin of Clyde; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Nettie Isabelle Wallace

BROWNWOOD - Nettie Isabelle Wallace, 80, died Sunday in a local nursing home.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lynn Turnbow officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery directed by the funeral home.

Mrs. Wallace was born in Stanton and had lived in Brownwood for 9 years. She was a home maker and a member of Grace Baptist Church. She married W.P. Wallace in Carlsbad, N.M. in 1952.

Survivors include her husband, W.P. Wallace of Brownwood; six daughters, Lillie Bell McMinn of Grants, N.M., Wally Ann McLean of Farson, Wyo., Jo Ann Wells of Lubbock, Velma Cummings of Truth or Consequences, N.M., Elvira Hammit of Gillette, Wyo. and Jackie Robinson of Edmond, Okla.; one brother, Curtis David Hamm of Pomona, Calif.; 20 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Lola Mae Olliff Jordan

FISK - Lola Mae Olliff Jordan, 84, of Fisk and formerly of Lubbock, died Monday at a Coleman hospital.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Girard Cemetery near Spur with Dr. Cleve Haley officiating directed by Stevens Funeral Home.

Mrs. Jordan was born in Oklahoma and grew up in Girard. She graduated from high school there. She graduated from nursing school and was a registered nurse in the U.S. Navy during World War II and also after discharge from the service. She was the widow of William Earl Jordan. She lived in Lubbock for 15 years prior to moving to Coleman County one month ago. She was member of Oakwood Baptist Church in Lubbock.

Survivors include one daughter, Cheryl Howard of Fisk; one brother, Mickey Olliff of Odessa; one sister, Christine Long of Burkett; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Lucille Wade

JAYTON - Lucille Wade, 80, died Tuesday at her home.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Reinbolt officiating. Burial will be in the Jayton Cemetery directed by Weathersbee Funeral Home of Rotan.

Mrs. Wade was born in 1917 and lived in Jayton all of her life. She attended Draughns Business College in Abilene and worked for the Office of Price Administration during World War II. Later, she worked for the Selective Service and the Draft Board. She was also employed by Kyle Gas Co.

She married Halley Wade in 1947 in Sweetwater. They have owned and operated a farm since the early 1950s.

Survivors include her husband, Halley Wade of Jayton; two daughters, Sandra Wade of Jayton and Pamela Wade-Campbell of Big Spring; a sister, H. Renell Brady of Tulsa, Okla.

Charles N. Prater

HAMLIN - Charles N. Prater, 76, died Tuesday at an Abilene hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Martin Encke officiating. Burial will be in Hamlin East Cemetery, directed by Foster-Adams Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 7:30 tonight.

Mr. Prater was born in Hamlin. He graduated from Hamlin High School in 1938, from John Tarleton College in 1940 and also attended Texas A&M College. He was U.S. Air Corps veteran of World War II.

He married Virginia Johnson in Lueders in 1944 and was an employee of Shell Pipeline Corp. for 37 years. He lived in the Midland/Odessa area for 21 years. He retired in 1983 and returned to Hamlin.

Mr. Prater was a member of First United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Wesleyan Sunday School class and served on the Finance Committee, the Administrative Board, the Pastor-Parish Relations Committee and the Board of Trustees. He was past president of the Hamlin Lions Club, and at the time of his death, was president of the Hamlin Cemetery Association and was involved in ranching and farming.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Prater of Hamlin; two sons, Charles N. Prater II of Kingwood and Gary M. Prater of Lueders; one daughter, Mary Lou McLennan; and five grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or First United Methodist Church.

D.C. Stapp

D.C. Stapp, 81, died Tuesday at a local hospital. Services are pending with North's Funeral Home.

Lorena Gerhart

MARSHALL - Lorena Gerhart, 80, died Sunday at a Marshall nursing home. Services will be at 4 p.m. today at Travis St. Chapel directed by Sullivan Funeral Home; there will be a private burial in Abilene.

Raymond A. Crowson

CADDO - Raymond Crowson, 70, died Monday at his home. Services will be at 4 p.m. today at Caddo Cemetery directed by Morehart Mortuary. Fred Wilson

BRADSHAW - Fred Wilson, 85, died Tuesday at his residence. Services are pending with Fry-Bartlett Funeral Home in Tuscola.

Elza "Tug" Rollins

BROWNWOOD - Elza "Tug" Rollins, 71, formerly of Snyder, died Monday at an Abilene hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Colonial Hill Baptist Church in Snyder with burial at Hillside Memorial Gardens directed by Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home in Snyder.

Barbara Sue McPherson

EASTLAND - Barbara Sue McPherson, 55, died Tuesday at a local nursing home. Services are pending with Edwards Funeral Home.
