Sunday, April 1, 2001 -- Johnson leads AHS to title; Lady Eagles also claim crown BROWNWOOD — Jonathan Johnson of Abilene High ran a Big Country season-best 1:53.92 to win the 800 meters Saturday at the Bluebonnet Relays at Gordon Wood Stadium.

Sunday, October 29, 2000 -- Lady Eagles win fifth straight 4-5A cross country title: SAN ANGELO — The Abilene High girls cross country team claimed its fifth consecutive District 4-5A championship Saturday.

Nov. 14 -- Adkins, Benoit take 5A top-10 medals ROUND ROCK — Kristen Adkins of Abilene High and Dwayne Benoit of Cooper both earned medals Saturday as top-10 finishers in the Class 5A state cross country meet at Old Settlers Park.

Nov. 12 -- Best cross country runners to face off (AL PICKETT) There should be some great races Saturday at the University Interscholastic League’s state cross country meet at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock.

Nov. 7 -- Cross country roundup: Abilene High girls capture state berth LUBBOCK — The Abilene High girls are headed to the state cross country meet next week for the second time in four years.

Nov. 5 -- District cross country champs Benoit of Cooper and AHS’ Adkins have worked harder this year (TED DUNNAM) Entering this season, Dwayne Benoit knew his success depended on him getting over the hump. And where cross country courses are concerned, that’s no easy accomplishment, especially when you’re running against the best in the state on a hilly course.

Nov. 5 -- Teams ready to battle for state berths (AL PICKETT) The goal Saturday is to finish in the top three as a team or the top 10 individually. Either accomplishment at the regional high school cross country meets will earn a berth in the state meet next week in Round Rock.

Oct. 31 -- Abilene High, Cooper boys and girls qualify for regional (AL PICKETT) It was as great day for both Abilene High and Cooper at the District 4-5A cross country meet Saturday at Sherrod Park.
