Breckenridge 23, Brady 19

BRECKENRIDGE -- The Breckenridge Buckaroos scored 14 points in the fourth quarter to protect their perfect season and take a 23-19, come-from-behind victory over the game Brady Bulldogs here Friday.

Brady, which finishes 6-4, had given the 10-0 Bucks all they wanted for three quarters, leading by 19-9 by halftime.

The Bucks still trailed by 10 when Brian Cyprian got loose on an eight-yard TD run in the first minute of the final quarter, then Cliff Watkins scored the winning touchdown on a three-yard run with 5:48 left in the game.

Breckenridge will now meet Iowa Park for the bi-district title. The game will be at 7:30 p.m. next Friday at Weatherford.

The Bucks started out like a 10-0 team, scoring only 90 seconds into the game on a 41-yard pass from Cliff Watkins to Chris Chapman. For the night, Watkins was 6 of 11 for 119 yards, with one interception. Chapman caught another 36-yard pass from Watkins, but didn't score.

After being stung by the early score, the Bulldogs charged back with a Craig Talley rushing TD to knot the score with 6:18 left. Breckenridge went up 9-6 with two minutes left in the first period on Braden Grimes' 32-yard field goal.

But Brady came storming back again, scoring on a 25-yard run by Ivan Rodriguez and a two-yard plunge by Anthony Pennington, the latter with only 57 seconds left in the first half. Suddenly the Bucks found themselves on the short end of a 19-9 score.

And it stayed that way until the fourth quarter when Cyprian and Watkins rallied Breckenridge to victory.
