Angelo State remains only unbeaten Lone Star Conference Team

RICHARDSON, Texas (AP) -- John Humphrey's three catches for 128 yards and a touchdown and Erik Hartman's 262-yard passing allows Angelo State to remain the only unbeaten Lone Star Conference Team.

The Rams (3-0, 2-0) defeated Ouachita Baptist 41-14 Saturday, clinching the game with a 42-yard scoring strike. Ouachita's (1-3, 0-2) top performer was Rico McClarity who rushed for 116 yards and a touchdown.

All games played by the LSC last week were conference games. Midwestern State squeaked by Northeastern State, 13-10, Texas A&M-Kingsville shutdown Harding, 33-7, and Southeastern Oklahoma State downed Eastern New Mexico, 21-7.

In other action, Central Oklahoma beat Tarleton, 28-19, Texas A&M-Commerce held off Southwestern Oklahoma State, 17-7, and East Central lost to Abilene Christian, 20-7.

Midwestern State (2-1, 2-0) remains tied for the Lone Star Conference lead after it's 13-10 victory over Northeastern State (0-4, 0-2). Midwestern linebacker returned a fumble for a 16-yard touchdown. The score came with less than eight minutes left in the game and put Midwestern back on top.

Texas A&M-Kingsville (2-1, 2-0) came back after a loss last week to North Alabama, defeating Harding (2-2, 0-2) through a commanding running game. The Javelinas rushed for 309 yards and four touchdowns.

Southeastern Oklahoma (2-2, 2-0) kept its seat atop the LSC North Division standings by taking a 21-0 lead over Eastern New Mexico (3-1, 1-1) before the Greyhounds got on the board with a 72-yard touchdown run by Brady Bazzell in the last four minutes of the game.

Chad Cole passed for 324 yards and a touchdown, but it wasn't enough to keep Tarleton (2-2, 1-1) on top of Central Oklahoma (3-1, 2-1). The Broncos trailed 10-0 in the second quarter before scoring 28 unanswered points.

It was Texas A&M-Commerce's first win of the season, allowing the team to improve its record to 1-3, 1-1. A&M-Commerce managed only 65 yards rushing but scored two touchdowns with its running game. Southwestern Oklahoma State falls to 0-4, 0-3.

Abilene Christian (3-1, 1-1) running back David Bennett rushed for 149 yards and two touchdowns giving his team a hold on East Central (0-4, 0-2).
