Mavericks sign Stevin Smith, re-sign Jamie
Watson
DALLAS (AP) - The Dallas Mavericks on Friday signed rookie
guard Stevin Smith to a 10-day contract and gave a second 10-day
deal to guard Jamie Watson.
Smith fills the roster spot opened Thursday when guard Erick
Strickland went on the injured list with a sprained right thumb.
Smith had been with the CBA's Sioux Falls Skyforce. He helped
lead them to the league's best record by averaging 14.2 points,
6.3 assists and 2.1 steals.
Smith went to high school in Dallas, then became Arizona State's
all-time leader in points and steals.
Watson, released earlier this month by Utah, averaged 3.8 points,
2.5 rebounds and 1.25 steals in 16.3 minutes in his first four
games as a Maverick. Send
