Mavs to open on road; Green could set record
at home
DALLAS (AP) - Dallas Mavericks forward A.C. Green could set
the NBA record for consecutive games played on Nov. 20, at home,
against the Golden State Warriors.
The potentially record-setting date was made public Tuesday
when the team released its 1997-98 schedule.
Green is 10 games from tying Randy Smith's mark of 906 straight
games. That game is scheduled for Nov. 18 at Sacramento.
Two nights later, the record could be his.
"A.C. Green's milestone will be a great evening for him,
and we plan to make the Nov. 20 Golden State game a special night
for our fans as well," team president Terdema Ussery said.
The Mavericks will open the season Oct. 31 at Vancouver, then
play in Seattle the next day. It'll be the first time in the team's
18 years that it starts the season with two road games.
The home opener will be Nov. 4 against Vancouver.
On Dec. 6, the Mavericks and Houston Rockets will play the
first-ever NBA regular-season game in Mexico. The game, which
was announced earlier this summer, will be played at the Palacio
de Deportes in Mexico City. Send
