Rockets' season could be last for stars
HOUSTON (AP) - The Houston Rockets will play an international
schedule this season that, for Charles Barkley and Clyde Drexler,
could be a farewell NBA tour.
Barkley and Drexler are in the final years of their current
contract with the Rockets. They will play the Dallas Mavericks
Dec. 6 in Mexico City, the first regular season NBA game there.
The Rockets open their season at home in The Summit on Halloween,
Oct. 31, against the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Rockets hope for
another fast start. They've been 50-8 in October and November
over the last four seasons, two of them NBA titles.
Toughest games during that stretch will be home games against
the Los Angeles Lakers (Nov. 14), the New York Knicks (Nov. 18)
and at Seattle (Nov. 4).
The Lakers game on Nov. 14 will be one of two appearances in
The Summit featuring center Shaquille O'Neal. The Rockets play
at Los Angeles on Dec. 12 and Feb. 15. The Lakers also are in
The Summit on Dec. 22.
The Rockets play the world champion Chicago Bulls in Chicago
on Jan. 18. Send
